Open source is a concept that envisions a collaborative, open process that results in the creation of a product. Open source has long been used in the computer community. The UNIX and later Linux operating systems, as well as the software that operates on those platforms, are created using open source research. The process functions by a sum of individual contributions. One person may have an idea for a useful software program, but may lack the programming skills necessary to make the software function. In open source, this is not a problem because one person’s end product is another person’s beginning product.
Open Source as implied is all about open, collaborative development process and solutions framework. Open source is the very antithesis to proprietary, licensed software, where there is no scope for re development and everything is bound by legalities of usage and copyrights. Open Source initiatives are worldwide and taking the cue from the open source community, governments has started to adapt this model and has advocated this shift in their working and administrative paradigm.
Today, nearly every corner of the world faces the challenge of a stagnant or shrinking economy. Bleak economic forecasts, shrinking budgets and increasing pressure on businesses and governments to meet the needs of their customers and constituents—often with fewer resources to do so—are becoming commonplace.
India is, of course, not immune to these challenges. But the country is very well placed to meet them and mitigate them to a great extent. India is one of the world’s fastest growing tech economies and one of the leading participants in the global shift towards free and open source technologies—As such, India can play a central role in fostering and adopting the innovations driving its own economic and social growth as well as positioning itself for a larger role on the global economic and technological stage.
WebBee eSolutions Pvt Ltd., the leading web design and development company has also adapted an Open Source initiative and embedded it to its solutions and services framework. Our web projects are built upon open source software. We believe in an open way of collaboration and we imbibe these practices in our projects. Our projects are hallmarks of quality and ease of use.
At WebBee, we use Open source CMS like Joomla, Drupal, OSCommerce etc for killer content quality and navigational ease. MySQL is used as a backend database, as MySQL is one of the most versatile and robust relational database systems and we utilize it to its fullest. Additionally, we use PHP to code all the functionalities, so it integrates seamlessly with the other open source software we use. Our projects are delivered in a highly participative environment and the goodwill we share with our clients is a testimony to that.
We follow highly structured and process driven methodologies to deliver affordable web designing services, and that is complemented by using open source technologies. Open source is indeed a novel way to build a cutting edge web development service.
Open source is definitely the technology and economic paradigm of tomorrow. The gradual shift to that by different organizations speaks volumes of its usability and compatibility. WebBee by its open source initiatives is several steps ahead of the nearest competitor and look to build our organization strategies to reinforce our commitment to our clients and stakeholders. |
